On Wednesday, August 31, the surging CF Montréal will take on Eastern Conference rivals New York Red Bulls at Saputo Stadium in a bid to close the gap on the top of the standings.
CF Montréal laid down the gauntlet in the first meet, securing a late 2-1 comeback victory at the Red Bull Arena in April. Notoriously, the Metro are better on the road, but CFMTL are flying high right now.

Read on to see how the sport betting markets see this MLS game going and what odds offer the best value coming into CF Montréal vs New York Red Bulls.
Red Bulls love to travel, but CFMTL still strong at home
It’s far from the fortress that’s been forged by Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park, but CF Montréal haven’t been bad at home, putting up seven wins, two ties, and four losses to date. That ranks Wilfred Nancy’s home record sixth in the conference.
New York Red Bulls, on the other hand, have a far weaker 4-5-5 record at home, sitting fourth in the Eastern Conference by virtue of the 8-3-3 road record.
Still, CFMTL are expected to continue their winning ways and bring their home record level with their away, sitting as the clear favourites to -111 to win the game. NYRB sit out at +280 to land an upset triumph.
CF Montréal have a way of leaking goals
Sitting with a mere +8 goal difference from 41 goals against, it’s clear that the Canadian side predominantly relies on its offensive capabilities to secure victories.
Over the last ten home games – which includes a 3-0 win against Canadian Premier League contenders Forge – CFMTL have only kept three clean sheets.
That said, their last two games have been won to nil, but they were games against losing record teams: New England Revolution and Chicago Fire.
During the Red Bulls’ current run of three wins, two ties, and a loss on the road, Gerhard Struber’s side has only been shutout once, in a 0-0 tie with DC United, scoring nine and conceding ten in that spell.
As such, while CF Montréal can continue to be expected to take the win, seeing them concede once or even twice shouldn’t come as a surprise.
This makes the odds of +240 for CFMTL to win and both teams to score particularly appealing. After all, when the sides first met in April, it ended 2-1 to the Canadian outfit.
Will Romell Quioto strike again?
The in-form man of the moment, Romell Quioto has been scoring for fun over the last four games. Netting once against Houston Dynamo and Chicago Fire, the Honduran also scored twice against Inter Miami and the Revolution.
Six goals in four games, and he’s been taken off between the hour-mark and 77th minute in each of those games, helping him to keep fresh and firing.
At the Red Bull Arena when CF Montréal met NYRB earlier this season, Quioto came off the bench in the 61st minute to see the equalizer ten minutes later and score the winner ten minutes after that.
He’s a tremendously exciting attacker, but one that NYRB would be keen to focus their defensive efforts on.
So, it might be wise to see if he finds any success against the backline in the opening phases and then go into the live betting to back him as a potential goalscorer.
Prior to kickoff, Montréal’s leading scorer with 15 so far this season is at +120 to score anytime. Quioto is also at +390 to repeat his last showing against the Red Bulls and score the last goal of the game.
CF Montréal are rightly the favourites to add another win to their record, but defensive frailties will offer chances to their travel-loving foes.
