Canada doesn’t boast a particularly strong history in the upper echelons of tennis, but in recent years, a handful of star performers have been making waves and could rank amongst the best Canadian tennis players in the near future.

Not only is Canada home to one of, perhaps even the greatest of all time in one discipline, but there are also younger stars setting new standards in the sport.

These are the best Canadian tennis players of all time, with more information on each further down:

Daniel Nestor

Not just the best Canadian tennis player of all time, but also one of the best men’s doubles players to ever grace the sport, Daniel Nestor played for 27 years, amassing eight Grand Slam triumphs and an Olympic Gold Medal.

The peak of Nestor’s career, who retired in 2018, spanned 2002 to 2012. During this time, he regularly ranked No. 1 and secured the Australian Open, four French Open titles, two victories at Wimbledon, and one US Open.

He also became the first doubles player to hit 1,000 wins and to win each Masters-level tournament.

Without a doubt, the Yugoslavian-born Canadian is the best Canadian tennis player of all time and will remain one of the best in the history of men’s doubles tennis.

Bianca Andreescu

At the time of writing, Bianca Andreescu stands among the best Canadian tennis players of all time as the only one to win a single’s Grand Slam championship.

Securing the 2019 US Open by getting the better of Serena Williams enshrined the Ontario native as a national hero. She was also the first Canadian since Faye Ruban in 1969 to win the Canadian Open – also by beating Williams.

Now, still only 22-years-old, she looks to improve on her Canada-leading No. 4 ranking in the WTA and will continue to be a popular pick in tennis betting for many years to come.

Eugenie Bouchard

In 2014, Eugenie Bouchard soared to the headlines by becoming Canada’s first representative to be born in the country to reach the final of Wimbledon.

The year would also see the Québécois reach the semi-finals of the French Open and Australian Open, but mixed form, injuries, and surgery have hindered the 28-year-old since.

This year, Bouchard looks to be mounting a comeback after some 18 months out of the game. She’ll be available in the betting markets throughout the year and has strung together some solid wins already.

Milos Raonic

It wasn’t too long ago that the 6’5’’ Milos Raonic was hailed as the future of the sport. In 2011, he entered the Australian Open as a qualifier and surged to the fourth round.

The Yugoslavian-born Canadian climbed to No.3 in the ATP ranking by 2016, marking an appearance at the Wimbledon final and Australian Open semi-finals that year.

While not yet retired, Raonic is currently inactive, with much of his career being plagued by injuries. Regardless, when fit, he’s certainly a force to be reckoned with on the court.

Three of the four best Canadian tennis players of all time above are still in the sport and have a chance to cement their legacies further.

Top of the agenda are hockey, soccer, and boxing, but there's always time for the NFL, cricket, Formula One, and a bit of mixed martial arts.
