• Alphonso Davies is Bayern Munich’s go-to left-back in the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League.

  • The 21-year-old is easily one of the most talented and valuable young defenders in world soccer.

  • Davies is arguably the best player that Canada has and he continues to feature prominently.

Having fled Liberia, Debeah and Victoria Davies found themselves in the refugee camp of Buduburam, Ghana, where Alphonso Davies would be born in 2000.

Now a superstar of Canadian soccer, Alphonso Davies is a firm starter for European giants Bayern Munich and boasts a tremendous haul of accolades despite only being 21-years-old.

So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that plenty of people wonder, what is Alphonso Davies’ net worth? We aim to get close to the answer to that question further down while also looking at why he’s such a coveted talent.

How Much is Alphonso Davies Worth?

Alphonso Davies’ net worth is estimated to be around CA$21 million (€15.6 million). This value has been landed by drawing from wage reports from reliable sources and factoring in elements like endorsements, bonuses, and sponsorship deals.

It’s next to impossible to get an exact Alphonso Davies net worth figure, predominantly because you can’t get information on his outgoings.

Still, the net worth of Alphonso Davies above takes key earnings into consideration, with the primary driver being the left-back’s earnings with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Bayern Munich.

With the Vancouver Whitecaps of the MLS from 2016 to 2018, he earned a base guaranteed salary of around CA$269,702 (€199,870). Then, he landed a £9 million (CA$14.1 million) move to Bayern Munich.

Davies’ opening contract with Bayern Munich put him on nearly £2 million (CA$3 million) per year, with the first two seasons in Germany yielding roughly CA$5,967,000.

In April 2020, the Bavarians sought to lock down their world-class prodigy, and so they offered him a deal in the region of €5 million (CA$6,763,000) per season. He’s now in the second year of this deal.

Stack up these earnings, and Davies clocks in with over CA$19.7 million in wages alone. Given the amount of silverware that the Canadian has won with Bayern Munich, it’d be fair to assume that he’s earned a fair bit in bonuses as well.

On top of all of this, he’s drowning in sponsorships, endorsements, and partnerships with brands. Under the ATG Sports Management banner, Davies has certainly been making the most of his profile.

In April 2022, TSN reported that Davies topped the list of Canada’s most marketable athletes, with the likes of Connor McDavid, Lance Stroll, Sidney Crosby, Eugenie Bouchard, and Tristan Thompson also making the top ten.

Proving his appeal, the athletic left-back has signed a five-year endorsement deal with the Bank of Montréal (BMO), and had partnered with eFootball PES alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford and Takefusa Kubo.

He’s in such a strong position profile-wise that his agent, Nick Huoseh, has even cut Gatorade ads and advised Fanatics to stop selling his jerseys without a direct deal with the athlete’s team, per reports.

Davies almost exclusively uses Twitter to promote his teams and victories as well as any endorsements and partnerships that he’s agreed to, making it quite the enviable profile among marketers.

This season alone, the profile of 455,900 followers and a clearly exclusive 30 followings has promoted team-ups with BMO, GQ Magazine, EA Sports’ FIFA 23, BioSteel, Nike, and DAZN Canada showcased him on stage with popular YouTuber KSI.

Furthering his value as a marketing sensation off the pitch, he’s particularly active on his Twitch channel, thatboydavies19, which over 351,000 people follow on the video streaming platform.

Early Life and Career

Born in Buduburam in 2000, Davies and his family emigrated to Canada in 2005, where they settled down in Edmonton. It’s here that he’d start his soccer career with the charitable organization Free Footie.

The aspiring soccer star would later take up an opportunity with the Whitecaps FC Residency, moving to Vancouver on his own in 2015.

It didn’t take long to break into the Whitecaps ranks, stepping up to the second team from the reserves in February 2016. Later that year, he was in the MLS ranks, making his first-team debut in the 2016 Canadian Championship.

When he made his MLS debut on July 16, one day after signing the first-team contract, Davies became second only to Freddy Adu as the youngest person to play in the league.

In all, Davies played 11 games for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, scoring twice, and 81 times for the first-team, scoring 12 and setting up 14 more. Then, Europe came calling.

During his time with the Whitecaps, Octavio Zambrano gifted the young talent his Canada first-team debut on June 14, 2017. Since then, he’s gone on to score 12 goals and 17 assists in 34 games for Les Rouges.

On January 1, 2019, the nationalized Canadian – previously registered as Liberian – officially joined Bayern Munich. While he would have expected to slowly move through the youth system as a teen, the soccer gods had other plans.

Early in the 2019/20 season, a short-term injury to one of the world’s best left-backs at the time, David Alaba, and a long-term injury to fellow world-class defender Luca Hernández opened up a spot in the starting XI.

Against Union Berlin on October 26, 2019, Davies got a start and played 90 minutes to help Bayern Munich win 2-1. Since then, he’s kept his place when fit, even forcing Alaba to take up permanent residence at centre back.

His speed, determination, skill on the ball, and sheer athleticism hold Davies in the starting XI to this day and he remains a key reason why Bayern Munich have odds of +500 to win the Champions League.

Honours, Accolades, and Future

From a very young age, Alphonso Davies was making history.

He was the youngest debutant for the men’s national team, second-youngest to play in the MLS, and the youngest to both score for Canada and hit the back of the net at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

He landed the Golden Boot of the 2017 Gold Cup with three goals as well as the Best Young Player Award at the tournament for Canada.

Since joining Bayern Munich, Davies has won four Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal twice, DFL-Supercup thrice, and has hoisted the FIFA Club World Cup, Champions League, and UEFA Supercup trophy once each.

Last year, he added another prestigious accolade by taking home the 2021 CONCACAF Men’s Player of the Year Award.

This season, the star attraction is the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Canada has a tough draw according to the soccer odds, being out at +1000 to win Group F, but with talents like Davies, there’s always a chance for an upset.

Only 12 games into the campaign, Bayern Munich trailed Union Berlin by one point in the Bundesliga, but that wasn’t expected to last long.

Davies will aim to win the league and challenge for the Champions League this season and just about every season for his foreseeable future in Bavaria.

Alphonso Davies is one of the most talented young players in world soccer today. Expect the Alphonso Davies net value figure to continue to surge as his career unfolds.
